About Polish Cultural Association of Gdansk in Canada
On November 3, 1995, thanks to the inspiration of the then President of the City of Gdańsk, Tomasz Posadzki, and the Consul General in Toronto, Andrzej Brzozowski, at the Polish Cultural Center. John Paul II in Mississauga, an organizing committee for the Gdańsk Millennium Celebrations was established in the metropolis of Toronto.
They wanted to remind the Polish community about common roots and traditions, and to introduce the Canadian community to the interesting history, beautiful architecture and cultural heritage of Gdańsk.
In 1997, the originally established organizing committee for the 1000th anniversary of Gdańsk in the metropolis of Toronto was transformed into the Association of Gdańsk People in Canada headed by Zuzanna Stupak - a graduate of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Gdańsk.
The Association was joined by native residents of Gdańsk, people connected with Gdańsk through school, work, and also those whom Gdańsk charmed with its beauty.
The Association of Gdańsk People in Canada is registered with the Ministry of Consumers as the Non Profit Organization and cooperates with many Polish diaspora organizations in the metropolis of Toronto.
