About Polish National Union of Canada
The Polish National Association in Canada, dating from 1930, is one of the largest Polish organizations in the country of the maple leaf. Its formal establishment is related to the reaction of the Canadian Polish community to the growing influence of the Polish section of the communist party operating under the name of the Polish People's Society. Communist agitation was quickly resisted, and the new organization, adopting the ideas of Marshal Józef Piłsudski as a program, began to gather the most patriotic Poles. In order to integrate the patriotic efforts of Poles, ZNPwK strove from the very beginning to unite the work of Polish diaspora organizations, joining the Union of Polish Associations in Winnipeg in 1938.
